Advice Wanted for Newbie
Hello! I am looking at a 1991 Land Rover Range Rover.
Backstory: The body is in fairly great condition. The interior is okay. It currently has 216,500 miles...The current owner has used it as a daily driver for the past year, he's had no issues. Starts up and runs great every time. The heater core needs to be replaced and sounds like the blower motor as well.
I have heard that classic Range Rovers are an expensive money pit and not worth the pain. I currently have an '81 Honda Accord, easy peasy. Also have a '78 Volvo, same story there.
Okay, to get to my questions:
Is a 1991 worth it (is it known to be a lemon year)?
Are parts very difficult and expensive to find?
Would I be better off with a 1982-87 Toyota Landcruiser?

I think a 91 RRC is a very sought after vehicle. We’re Land Rover guys here so we’re definitely biased to LR over said Toyota. Parts aren’t difficult to get for the most part, nor expensive but you often have to order them from England, which for me (in Canada) takes 3 -10 days. The Range Rover will be a nicer ride on and off road.

No problem. Toyota makes great 4x4’s, but they’re not Land Rovers. My son got into Forerunners, I think he saw the old man working on his LR’s too much and thought the Toyota would be more reliable. He works on the Forerunner at least as much as I work on my Rovers.
