Default Rust question

Hi folks - first post here in the RR Evoque section.

Thinking about purchasing a 2015 Evoque. It's a Wisconson/Chicago car so salty winters!

What do you think of these pictures? Is the rust I see manageable/removable/repairable? Looks do-able to me but I don't know this vehicle very well. (Ha VERY familiar with Disco 2 rust issues, but not the Evoque).

And while I'm thinking about it - does the Evoque have any achilles heel regarding rust and corrosion I should be looking out for?

Thanks for any and all opinions about this.

I haven't heard of any major rust issues yet. Still too new and I believe still under the body corrosion warranty period. That rust looks treatable. There are rust converters you can apply on there like POR-15.

Thanks Brandon - I agree the rust could probably be delt with. I just looked under a local Evoque to better understand that frame rail.

But - got the carFax and this vehicle has almost zero service records. Not even any warranty maintenance noted. And I just got off the phone with my local Rover service dept with one of the mechanics there. He said these cars are sensitive to not changing the oil, and to not using the exact oil Land Rover recommends. So this car won't be in my future.

So I was under the RR to change the oil the other day and noticed rust in the same spots you mentioned. I'm going to wire wheel the existing paint and rust and then treat with that POR-15. Will report back.
