Default Steering rack failure Evoque 2 wheel drive 2016

Power steering failed whilst driving at about 60mph. Very very heavy to steer. LR agent updated software that controls it without success. The brains of the system is said to need replacement at a total cost estimate of £3'183.49 that has shocked me intensely with the mileage at just 36k. Does anyone know of a course of action towards a claim of Poor manufacturing standards or similar ?

The Evoque's year is 2016 and is a two wheel drive 2.0L diesel.

The vehicle is quite old and while the part should have lasted longer, l am not sure you'll get any goodwill from Land Rover.

Have you tried asking the dealer to see what they say. Have you a full service history with Land Rover or a reputable lndy?

If you don't get anywhere then try contacting car breakers for a second hand part.

My Evoque is TD4 and steering rack failed 10 days before it was due into garage for the recall. The dealer ordered part but said it was faulty and now have to wait over four months for new part to be delivered!
Lucky for me they have given me a rental car, but it will be nearly 5 months without my vehicle. Is yours not covered under the recall? JLR are paying for repairs.

The cost of replacement parts is shocking for these modern vehicles.
l have recently found out that a typical manufacturer markup on spares for TV sets is 900%

l imagine it also happens in the automotive industry. How much does a Defender plastic headlamp unit cost to produce? LR want over £3,000 for one.
Powerful U.K. sell them for £800-1200 depending on type, and they are made by the same company. And l imagine Poweful U.K. mark them up 100%
