2005 hse crank, no start

2005 hse crank, no start
Hey everyone! Driving my 2005 hse with 88k miles on the highway when the engine completely shut off. I managed to safely roll to a stop on the side of the road. all electrical still functioning fine, turned key off - and that was that last time it ran. this was 2 days ago, since then we’ve checked and replaced (in this order):
do we have gas? yes
is the fuel pump working? yes
fuel pump relay? fine
replaced both cam sensors.
replaced crank sensor.
checked spark plugs, realized they were completely flooded with oil.
removed coils, valve cover, and plugs…managed to clean out the oil pooled in there. replaced all 8 spark plugs.
put everything back together.
replaced dead key battery.
crank, no start.
is the gas bad? well, probably.
we JUST got the car the day it broke down and the quarter tank of gas in it had probably been sitting for months-years.
added 6 gallons and a bottle of treatment.
removed a bit of the old gas, checked pressure again. crank, no start.
completely confused, we managed to get it to start for 2 seconds by spraying starter fluid directly into the intake.
that’s terrifying so we didn’t do it again, checked all 1000 fuses, which were fine. at this point, the battery is getting tired so we remove it to hook it up to an external battery charger and realize it’s unusually small for this car and only at 20% after being plugged in for hours. so first thing today will be to get a new battery.
any and all suggestions are welcome, we are barely hangin on over here.
**update: new battery. crank, no start.
