L322 2011 150k miles TRANSMISSION SLIPPING
Was hoping to hit 150k miles to replace my transmission fluid, but last weekend experienced slight slipping for the first time. No faults, no engine light, car was running really well to this point. I couldn't take it into Land Rover-specific shops so I took it to AAMCO for an inspection, they did say that the fluid was burnt (no leaking) and based on their test drives they are telling me a re-build of the transmission is recommended (they are advising $4500-7800).
From what I've read in the community, it could be a bad torque converter. Anway, my question is if my transmission is already slipping, and confirmed fluid is black, will a replacement of the pan/gasket/fluid help anything at all, or is there damage already done that needs to be addressed. I would rather buy a used/rebuilt transmission and take it to a shop that can replace what I have now.
My vehicle is at 148k miles.

I had a small leak coming from my tranny and it had begun to feel like it was slipping, I had the transmission fluid changed-new pan/filter (filter is built in to pan although I am sure you can buy them seperate because my mechanic was showing the filter listed for sale alone but I opted to just do the probably unesscarry combo option but for different reasons not related to your post)
annywayys long story short-It was driving like a brand new car when I got it back. the fluid was black as night according to the shop but again I went for a leak and since they had to take the pan off to get to the well known grommet/sleve thing that leaks -may as well do the fluid.
I got lucky and found the only shop I'll ever go to again-he charged me $200 plus parts which were $280 ( could have been cheaper but again-my choice) so just under $500 but in my area aamco and everyone else wanted min $1000 to do a fluid change (YEAH RIGHT) its actually a somewhat simple job just to do the fluid if your comfortable under the car, atlantic british has a awesome youtube video just google it, anyways-point is its worth trying the fluid before you go do all that,. b.t.w. AAMCO told me NOT to change the fluid if there's no leaks because it can cause more damage if you do-CLEARLY that guy didnt know wtf he was talking about. its recommended to change every 50-100k (i was told 60k by the dealer) so i'd avoid them personally but thats one guy at one AAMCO so you be the judge
here is the link to do a tranny service on an 08 RR hse full size they obvioulsy have other vehicles but if anyone is interested it was super helpful in finding an honest mechanic at least you know exactly what theyre doing and what they should be charging you, i had one shop tell me they had to drop this and that to get to the sleeve that was leaking -BS they wanted $1300 just to switch the sleve/grommet that leaks- HAHAHAAHAHa-no. that was more then the dealer charged-knowledge is power...and savings.
