Default Loud banging noise under heavy acceleration L322 3.6L V8 Auto

Hi Guys,

So I'm down to my last (for now) issue on my L322.
3.6L V8 Vogue.

When i accelerate hard i get a loud noise from somewhere around the front centre-ish.
I can drive the car normally with no noise, if I'm towing a trailer it happens more frequently.
I would best describe it as a mechanical noise as if something is skipping teeth.

From what i have read online it looks like the chain in the transfer case is slipping, so i will be investigating that direction this week,
but am reaching out to see if anyone on here has had a similar experience and knows what it is?

Thanks in advance!

Joe

Following up here for future fault finders!

I have diagnosed the issue!
Transfer case chain stretched and sprockets damaged.
New chain and sprockets and she will be as good as new.
Ill stick up a video tomorrow with the noise for reference.

Greetings Gents

My 2010 3.6 TDV8 is indicating the same kind of noise/sensation.

May I ask if either one of you can elaborate that it is the transfer case chain and sprocket?

Thank you.

Kind regards, Mike
