-Installed new terminals and discarded the pyrotechnic attachment on Positive cable which illuminated the Airbag Red - SRS on instrument panel.
-Can the SRS system run without this attachment on the cable?
-Do i have re-attach it to the cable?
-is there a way to reset this light without a scanner?
Anything with a yellow plug is related to the SRS system. I believe there is a plug that comes out of the back right side of the battery box behind the battery itself that plugs into the dongle that you removed which supplies power to the SRS system. I can not tell if those cables are attached or not from your picture but worth a look.
The :"pyrotechnics" that you talk about is actually called a ferrite bead, ferrite core, or, more generally, a choke. Cables can act like unintentional antennas, broadcasting electrical interference (“noise”) or picking it up. The appointed task of a ferrite core is to prevent such interference.
So if you did plug the power back in to the SRS it is picking up interference from you removing the ferrite more then likely causing the light to come on and disabling the airbags for safety reasons. Would suck to be driving down the road and the airbags go off because of interference that it picked up making the system think you were in a accident!
Nice try, but incorrect. I don't know where you got that data, but its certainly not for a 2004 RR HSE. Here's the explanation from -Range Rover Workshop Manual - System Description and Operation.
