An independent Land Rover shop estimated $1600 to replace my 2008 Rang Rover's thermostat. Labor 2.5 Hours and ES Coolant Thermostat BP 1 Unit $1,170.20

I asked if the $1170 "part" was actually a kit that included Hose Kit For Range Rover Full Size, I was told it "included a new housing."

I watched the Atlantic British tutorial How To Replace The Thermostat On LR3, Range Rover Sport And Full Size and it looks easy enough - I've done far worse to my 03 Discos.



Anyone know how much should this cost? Does it need to be a Land Rover shop, or can any competent shop do it? Or is it a 30-minute job that I should do myself? I'm comfortable with intermediate DIY, but concerned there may be more to the task than just replacing the thermostat.
