Looking to buy MY21 L405 Autobiography
First-time poster here! I'm currently looking to purchase a 2021 Range Rover Autobiography that's really caught my eye. I wanted to gather some feedback from the community regarding its reliability and what specific things I should keep an eye out for when I go to check it out at the dealership later this week.
The vehicle has 71,000 miles on it and has been serviced exclusively at the dealership throughout its life, which is definitely a plus.
Thanks in advance for any insights or advice—much appreciated!

Im looking to buy a 2019-2021 L405 as well. Had an LR3 and have a 2016 LR4 now. Keep me posted on how it goes. What I have learned is:
- Pre 2019 engines are the same supercharged V6 and V8s (same as in my Lr4). Those all need coolant pipes replaced around 75k miles.
- 2020+ engine is the new inline 6 or 8 turbo with electric supercharger. What I have heard is those are generally looked as more reliable than the prior generation and ive heard no major weak failure points. But the mechanics I spoke to also said they are more complex with the 48V battery system for the electric supercharger and the turbo, so could be more expensive to fix if they have a problem. One mechanic told me he would go with a 2019, just because he had replaced hundreds of coolant pipes on those and hadn't done much work on the 2020s, which I think is a good thin
- He did also mention the 48v battery has a longer warranty than the car, at 6 years and 100k miles I believe.
- He said the 2020+ engine does seep oil, "like all land rovers", but didnt sound like any major issues there - more just inconvenience.
- I got a PPI on a low mile 2020 l405 and they found: 1) a leaking PCV valve (he said was common but easy fix around 2hrs of labor). 2) They also found a seeping timing chain gasket. He said was "no biggie" and didnt need to be addressed, but if it did was like an 8hr job. 3) he also said it had a seeping "upper oil pan gasket", which he also classified as "no biggie" but said it was a huge job to fix if needed, like 20hrs.
- I think the RMS is also another common leak on both the supercharged engines and new turbo. Another I was looking at had a replaced RMS.
- there is also the front suspension knuckle that can crack and fail. that I believe was earlier get l405s and is covered under a recall.
Good luck and let me know how it goes.

thank you so much for the detailed response. I came across a 20 SVR and now im reconsidering what ti did hahaha decision decisions decisions!!!! I also wish you the absolute best keep me posted on what you get
Update--> Dealer just called saying they didn't sell the 2020 SVR. I think this deal is setting up to be mine. I really like this model drove it. 50K miles drives great the engine is a beast. Concerned about the possible coolant issues as the dealer avoided telling me they had to replace the radiator for some apparent reason. I work in the industry so I'm pretty familiar with some of these issues but wish they would have just been straightforward from the rip. They are supposed to call tomorrow and give me an update, I'm sitting firm on my offer as the car continues to sit for over 35 days.
