Default Rear seats won't fold down

My drivers side rear seats don't fold down. Both fuses in the rear cargo area are ok, and the passenger side folds down normally.

I can hear a relay click somewhere under the drivers seat when I use either the seat back adjustment on the rear seat, or the fold down button from the rear cargo area. Does anyone know what the pinouts for the rear seat harnesses are, and where power to fold the seat comes from?

Have you checked if there are any obstructions in the seat or under the seat?

I pullled the rear seat and found some random loose change, but nothing in that was obviously preventing anything from moving. I am not sure how the mechanism works, but I assume there is a latch that has to release and then a motor that drives the seat up / down. I am not getting any movement at all at the seat, not even a latch unlocking, at least as far as I can tell. I can hear a relay clicking under the driver's seat, it sounds like it is actually user the carpet somewhere under the driver's seat. I also dont see any kind of manual backup, which was surprising. If you blow a fuse and the seats are folded down it looks like you passengers might just be out of luck .

I recently bought this car, with this issue and a couple of others (will get to them next), but overall the car was really well maintained and I am definitely happy with it. I have pretty extensive experience working on BMWs and Audis, but this is my first range rover. I was really surprised that at least as far as I can tell there is no complete service software like ISTA for BMWs or VCDS for Audi. I think I may take it to the dealer at least for a diagnostic, but wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar issue or knew a good source for technical manuals that have all the modules, connectors, and pinouts for diagnosing random electrical problems.

I think I found the wiring schematic for the seat module in a service manual someone has shared online, but I still cant find where the actual module is. I dont want to just start ripping up carpets without knowing where I'm trying to get, so I have a couple of questions:
  • Does anyone know where this module is?
  • Where
  • What resources do people use to find this type of thing?

My biggest problem right now is I don't know the Land Rover terms for everything, so searching is tough. Learning this is half the fun, right? But right now I just want my seats to fold down. I will give Range Rover credit on the seat design though, it is crazy solid. There is absolutely no play or indication that the rear seats fold down when they are in the full upright position.

I wish I could help you here, but I believe a dealer visit is what you need. Good luck and keep us posted with what you find.

Hello I had the same issue. I took the back cover of the rear chair. There was a wire being chewed up by the metal bar that brings up and down of the seat. I was only able to tug the cable away from it just a little and it worked, so far still works.
