Default 2024 P550e Delivered and Charge Cord Question (NEMA 14-50)

Picked up my first Land Rover last night, a Hakuba Silver 550e. Whoa. As I was driving it home I was trying to understand what I had just done....

It's my first non-sporty car and SUV in a long time and this is a huge jump up, figuratively and literally. Of course, being in the US I had to get the Autobiography for the PHEV, which had a lot of options that I wanted anyway (minus the physically intrusive, never to be used, rear seat entertainment, but whatever). Options like soft door close worked and once I found the option and activated it, the keyless approach and depart (unlock/lock) worked great. I still have not been able to create an inControl account for some reason (I picked it up at closing of the dealership) so I'll have to focus on that soon.

Question - I have had EVs (Tesla) and PHEVs (BMW) before - and was shocked that this came with a typical 120V household plug only (NEMA 5-15) - or am I missing something? While I don't expect charge rate to be fast, but the 120V is really slow. I'll ask the sales guy of course, but has anyone else received a 240v NEMA 14-50 plug on their chargers? If not, any good examples to purch

Congrats on your purchase. Best to check with your dealership if there is a 220 volt charger. I have had a PHEV on order for about a year and apparently LR is building very few of them. Keep us posted on your findings. Enjoy the ride!

Ended up purchasing the Land Rover recommended 220v charger from Amazon for ~$600 (with wifi and other useless tools probably - these things are not really that complicated). Probably could have saved a few hundred by not getting that specific one, but it is prettier... We have a BMW X5 45e and since the on-board chargers for those are moderately weak I was able to get a ~$200 charger as the BMW won't accept higher amps anyway - but it's still faster than 120v.

2nd full day and I'm still getting used to the size of these (coming from sports cars). First morning I had 60 miles of charge available and ended the day with 13 miles after tying to ensure it was in EV the whole time. Overnight it charged all the way up to 19 battery miles available and, in Hybrid, not EV, mode on my 12 mile commute (with approx 5 miles of highway) I'm now down to 12 miles of battery available - so it seems to be pretty smart about using the remaining battery. Gas mileage according to the car on the way in was 72mpg approx. We fill up the BMW which has at best 35 mile capacity battery - at most 6 times a year and that usually b/c it's getting close to 1/2 a tank. I expect as good or better with this.

One thing I'm not a real fan of is the Lane Keep Assist - it's a little too wandering and correcting. I don't know if it will get better but I've had a (2015) Tesla, Honda, Volvo and BMW - all of which seemed to have a more comfortable lake keep assist.

I keep the lane assist off in all my vehicles.
