Default improve air line connection to the valve block.

Getting the air lines to seal in the valve block can be a real bitch. Orings and collets don't work very well after a while.

A fellow in Australia tapped his valve block and installed threaded compression fittings. I did the same with good results. The details can be found here. My contribution is near the end.

Wow Walt, that’s an old post on .net. I’m assuming you’re still happy with the upgrade?

100% completely happy. Try as I might I could not get a good seal at the valve block on a couple of lines. This solved everything.

I bought my truck in July of 2021 so the original post was about 1 yr earlier. At first my list did not include messing with the EAS, but any P38 owner will tell you it is inevitable. I needed to install new orings in the valve block because my truck was actually rising overnight. That is when the real trouble started and I could not get a good seals when I reinstalled the block. That required me to seek better options which I found on that thread.

I am only 7 months into ownership but now that everything is settled, I am very happy with it. My son took it to college about two months ago and it has given him no trouble at all.

You can see my thread in the general -> build threads section. It was a bunch of work, but has turned out well.

I see my mistake. It says you joined .net in 2010, I thought that was the date you posted it.
I agree about EAS. It took me a year and a half to get mine sorted out. It will sit level for a few weeks now. I really like the EAS and I’m generally disappointed when people abandon it for coils, though I certainly understand why and was tempted myself to do it a few times. I’ve had my P38 for over 4 years now and I really love it.

I have a leak somewhere...again. Oddly the compressor runs frequently in standard height, but barely runs at all at access height. That sorta suggests a failure in an air spring, but the darn things are only six months old. gggrrrrrrr

When my kid comes home for the holidays I'll do more diagnostic work. I'll pull the self leveling relay and see which corner is the problem and then take a closer look.

I like the system, but totally understand why people grow weary of chasing this nonsense.

Is the leak only in cold weather? My rears did this from when I installed them new about 2 years ago. In warmer weather they stay up for weeks but when it gets colder (below freezing) they leak down overnight. (Dunlops)

I don't have a good base of comparison. I bought the truck in July 2021 and replaced all four air springs (Dunlops). When I sent it to school with my son is was in good order (September). Now it is indeed colder. There is some correlation, but I can't say it is causation.

It is interesting to hear this happens to you too. Have you noticed how frequently your compressor runs?

I haven’t paid close attention to how often the compressor runs but I know that nothing really leaks (except my rear springs in cold), the reservoir maintains its pressure for a good while. I have a good baseline for mine as they didn’t leak down at all before. I was on Arnott Gen 3’s which I really liked but in the 2 years I had them 2 fronts failed catastrophically. Arnott was good about replacing them but I didn’t want to risk another failure. And their warranty is only good for 2 years outside the USA.
