2006 Sport Microphone not picking up voice
I am new to the Sport, and I've been lurking for a bit now, taking all the goodness in. I had a P38 for a long time, a long time ago, and I was able to pick up a very clean 2006 Sport. I haven't had to do much to it besides adjust the automatic shift linkage, restore the headlights, get a new tire winch and fix the hands-free phone system. Oh well. I got most of it. I still can't get the hands-free voice working fully.
So. I can pair successfully either my wife's iPhone X and my Pixel 3 with no problem. I can make calls and hear the caller perfectly, but I have no voice. I have replaced the microphone in the overhead console, and after running the diagnostic on the radio, it shows 2 bars but zero modulation, so my guess is there's nothing connected somehow. On the off-chance that it would work, I updated the bluetooth to the later FoMoCo model, but that didn't seem to work.
So I'm at a bit of a loss. I've gone through the messages as best I can and have found nothing that has really helped. I can't be the only one with this problem, so how does the fix work? I'd really like to get it up and running correctly instead of having to rely on some weird third party rig or go for a new head unit -- I like the originality of what I have.
I'm a very competent mechanic, having restored 26 vehicles and 8 motorcycles, if there is stuff to check or dig in to, I can get in there.
So. Can anyone point me in the right direction, or is there a known fix, or?? Your help is absolutely appreciated.
PS. The Sylvania headlight restorer is completely amazing on the lenses. I tried a couple of others, and they left a little fog. The Sylvania system rocked.
