2012 RRS Low Oil Pressure HELP NEEDED!
Hey all,
I bought my second Range Rover Sport - a 2012 with 65,000 miles on it. After owning it for one week, I noticed a ticking noise which made me think of the Timing Chain. Took it to my local dealer, and they audibly diagnosed it as the Timing Chains as well. Land Rover Dealership replaced the Timing Chains, Sprockets, Guides and Tensioners, but after completing the repairs, the Check Engine light came on during the mechanics' test drive. They scanned for Codes and found P0016-00 was stored in the PCM for Crankshaft and Camshaft position correlation. They tested the oil pressure and found that at idle, the engine only had 21psi of oil pressure, but state that at operating temperature it should be above 45psi. They performed an oil flush and filled with 20W-50, attempting to get better oil pressure, but could only produce 30psi. They reset the codes, and tested again, pulling the same codes up for low oil pressure. After some discussion with them, they claimed that the car is "safe" to drive in it's current state with the Check Engine light illuminated, and said that in order to find out what is causing the low oil pressure, they would have to disassemble the engine down to the block - which they then stated - they do not perform this type of work. (It is a Land Rover Dealership - you'd think they work on Land Rovers.) When asked what else they could do to assess or fix this issue, they claimed that the vehicle needed a complete new engine. Please HELP! If anyone has had this Low Oil Pressure issue, or may know of what could be causing this, please, please reply!!
Thank you so much in advance.
