Let me introduce myself, I am Jacques from the Netherlands. I just became the proud owner of a beautiful Range Rover Sport (L320) from 2006. It is a petrol version 4.2 V8 Supercharged.
I had a Disco TD5 about ten years ago and I wanted to drive a Land Rover again.
Now I intend to adjust it a bit and make it suitable for off-road adventure. Greenlanen in Wales is on the wish list, but given the developments that will probably take a while. Hopefully in the near future there will be opportunities to drive off-road abroad.
My question: at the moment there are standard 20 " wheels (pitch size 5x120) with 275/40 tires. In itself nice for the motorway, but nothing for off-road use. I am therefore considering smaller wheels, for example 16". buy with high tires for example Cooper STT pro, 265/75 R16 tires. But I have no idea whether that is actually possible, what to look out for, whether that fits with the disc brakes, etc. etc. Can someone help me a bit or point out where I can get more information about this.
Elsewhere I have already received reports that smaller wheels are difficult due to the size of the brake calipers / discs.According to the booklet that comes with the car, smaller wheels should be possible.A printout of this overview should be added. But it is not an option to completely adjust the brakes for this.
Anyone with experience with smaller wheels with larger tires?
Thanks in advance.
