Trans won't shift into 5th & 6th gears on its own
Have a '06 Range Rover Sport with 131,000 miles. Trans shifts smoothly and used to shift up to 6th gear on its own.
More recently it stops in 4th gear, going down the freeway at 3,000 RPM. You can take the shift lever left to manual and push to the + and upshift to 5th (2,500 RPM) and then to 6th (2,000) RPM and it will stay in 6th until encountering a hill and downshifting itself. It will upshift to 6th on its own at 72 MPH but my wife usually doesn't go 72 MPH on the 101 freeway where we live in Southern California. Land Rover dealer says its old age and don't worry about it. Any ideas out there?
