I've run across countless of careless posts all over the internet asserting that the V6 in these are really just the V8 motor with two cylinders running idle, or "Deactivated", as is the more commonly-used term. Heck, even the salesman at the LR dealer told this to me on our test drive. Though the motors are indeed similar, no, the V6 motor is not simply a V8 with two cylinders deactivated. Here's what the block looks like.
You can see that there's more space than one might assume is needed where perhaps another cylinder with a similar casting mold would fit, but as it stands, just six cylinders.
