Default New Owner - should I buy warranty?

I just purchased a 2020 Sport from a non JLR dealer. Excellent condition and low miles and has about 9.5 months left on the manufacturer warranty. My husband is very concerned about the reliability factor (I drove a Toyota Sequoia for 15+year, 205K miles with no issues) therefore we are considering purchasing an extended warranty. Obviously I have heard 3rd party warranties are not worth the $$ (apparently some won’t even cover LR vehicles) so I was told I may be able to purchase from a JLR dealership as long as my original warranty is still in place. My questions are for anyone who has done this - is that true - is the warranty worth it - do they look for reasons not to cover issues, etc. One quote I got from a third party was almost $8K 5 years, 100K miles. That seems high. Thank you in advance.
