Smart Key Not Recognized Error Message
The key fob to my 2017 Range Rover Sport got wet. I let it dry and changed the battery. Now it unlocks and unlocks the vehicle using the buttons on the fob. It does not unlock the vehicle from the outside with the key in my pocket when I put a finger on the door handle, nor does it start the vehicle with the fob in my pocket, instead I get a "smart key not recognized" error. I have to place the fob on the special spot on the steering column to start it. I assuming the key fob has some kind of proximity radio frequency feature that needs to be reintroduced to the vehicle or spray the fob with WD-40. Hoping its not permanently damaged from the water since it does unlock the vehicle. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this functionality back? I don't want to go to the dealership...
