1996 Discovery SE7 - Does not run, looking to sell...
I know it's an absolute sin, but I've had an Alpine White (tan interior) 1996 Discovery SE7 sitting dormant in my driveway for the past 6 years or so. It ran OK back in the day, but it no longer even starts. I had it towed to two different auto shops, neither of which would even give me an estimate on what it would cost to make it road-worthy once again -- they simply said for the amount that it'd cost to get it up and running, I'd be better off just buying a different Rover. Long story short, it's now back in my driveway, just taking up space. I would be more than happy to sell it to anyone who'd be willing to take it off my hands (and out of my driveway) so that they might do something useful with the parts and/or work to get it running again. I live along the shore in NJ, and it's up to you to come and get it. Any takers? I'm brand new to this forum, so let me know what additional information/pictures you'd need in order to move this forward. I don't even have a particular price in mind (recommendations are more than welcome). Thanks in advance for any guidance or interest that you might have!

Another option would be to contact an experienced Rover shop, like

Chris posts on here frequently as RoverMAsterTech, and if you read his articles you'll find that he knows Rovers and we are lucky to have him and other working pros participating on the forum.
If it was running in the past, without overheating issues, may only be something small.

Savannah Buzz, thanks for the tip. I live relatively close to Long Branch, so I may give Chris a call. The two local shops that I brought it to said it's going to need engine work that would quickly get to be pretty costly. The body is in decent shape, so I'm hoping someone can do something productive with it.

Well, investing in a hour of time will let you know what to expect, and certainly that can be passed on to the purchaser if you go that route. I've bought a lot of military surplus and construction gear that has sat for years in some cases. And my daughter named my D1 "Frankenstien" since it was brought back to life with parts from the dead ones....

Still sitting in my driveway. I'll take a few pictures and post them. If you're interested, just let me know...
