Please excuse the likely dumb newb question...does this do something that an Ultra Gauge won't? I have an '03 Disco, I get 3 amigos maybe 1 in 10 times.

It tells you exactly what is wrong with your abs (precisely what needs to be fixed) and resets the computer. An ultra Guage won't do that. The UG just tells you that you have an ABS problem, not what it is, and can't reset the dummy light. If you buy this and fix your abs you can then sell it for the same amount, most likely.
Prior to the ABS Amigo you had to have an expensive nanocom, textbook, Hawkeye, or whatever setup, go to the dealer, or just replace parts ***** nilly to figure out what the problem was. And if you did the latter you would still have the trouble code. Having an ABS Amigo is, to your Land Rover Discovery II friends, like having a pickup truck to your small car friends who move alot. Very handy.

The UG (which I also have) is for real time monitoring of the vehicle as it drives down the road. You can set alarms for things like temp, etc so you know when you have a problem before it gets too big. Example- If you're overheating, you can set a temp alarm at 210f and know you're in trouble before you pop a head gasket. The gages on the dash won't tell you until you're too hot.
The ABS Amigo is for advanced diagnostics when you get a check engine light. I had the 3 amigos and used this to diagnose what needed to be rebuilt on my wabco. I rebuilt the wabco for like $250 total including this device vs a lot more buying one new or junk yard.
