This guy is doing what he can, to not get ripped off. good on him. I can't see a better way to get the word out, to Marty or whomever.
Those sellers use the forums for drumming up business, only makes sense that they are held accountable through the forums, as well.
imo this post should be bumped to top of the line until the wrong is made right.

peace and love, peace and love
I agree on holding them accountable but before you start name calling perhaps you should read things carefully that others are saying.

As I have pointed out multiple times, if it's a warning to others about shady dealings don't offer to delete the thread once he has his money, it should stay out there for others. By saying he would delete it if he gives him his money, that is a strong arm tactic and taints it.

I have bought a few small items from Marty and had no issues. I have heard this a few times over the years on forums in regard to Marty and seems he is running on a shoe string budget trying to help rover owners get what they need at a fair price. From few other past issues I have heard about Marty, it seems that he can get things for you for a bargain price and has the best intentions, but if it does not go out pretty soon after the order, it may fall through the cracks a bit. Again, I can live with all that, if vendors large or small would just communicate, admit an oversight, and get the product on the way shortly there after or a prompt refund if the situations calls for it..

That said. I have been through this with our buddy Nate Bottorf to the extreme on my rear bumper in the infamous Black Friday Sale of 2010, I believe it was, that finally got delivered after probably a 100 emails and 20-30 phone calls over 10 months and a complaint to local BBB and credit card company involvement. Also, I am on month 10 now with HLC Fab and have lost communications with Denny for extended times during this time. He has had a rough year with illness, business slow down, business changes, two shop re-locations and now additional family issues I have found out at extended intervals during this wait. The only problem I have with all of these situations is being left in the dark or having promises made to take care of the issue and promised delivery dates come and go with no communications as to why or new date to expect delivery. Denny is a great guy, and he will be installing my new HLC Fab bumper at URE in a couple weeks. I like his products, and I like him, but I was beginning to wonder where all my emails and voice mails were being filed over the past 10 months. Bad news is not easy to communicate, but for business it is necessary to keep your customers as up to date as possible with any errors or delays in the product you deliver and try to correct issues as they arise. Since my rear bumper delay and now my front bumper delay, my wife has asked me more than once is all rover vendors are like this.

To ArmyRover's question, I understand the desire to use the forum for blackmail or whatever you want to call leverage to get your money or your product. I have been through that same thought process debating how long to wait and be patient and give a guy a chance to handle a private transaction and come through. Once emails and phone call are not returned you run out of options, and short of filing complaints with BBB and then legal action, not much you can do but go to the outlets that have some leverage to try to get your solution. At the same time not wanting to give the guy a black-eye forever to affect his ability to make a living in the long run, but wanting to bring what pressure you can to bear on the situation to provide the result that you feel should have been provided and was agreed upon.

okay , I get that. no blackmailing... just feel like, if the op is trying some strong arm crap, then the accused would have made a retort. I just have have strong opinion on the subject, I know. I originally started following these forums to find good sources, from which to procure needed parts and all. I regularly purchase from paul grant, rovers north, atlantic british, lucky 8.......all because of recommendations through these forums. I'm sure, I am not the only one. I find it just as valuable to hear the bad as I do the good, on retailers. this marty guy is probably a fantastic person... maybe unforeseen circumstances led to this problem. dunno. don't care. I don't care......because he is selling stuff on here or doucheweb or whatever forum. that makes it business. I would not want to blindly, be led by this forum, to a seller that may not come through. this is technically not Blackmail......by definition. the op is addressing readers, not Marty. so my plead is to please let this guy try to find resolution, or at least allow this thread to be one for the bad, in the review column.
and you can't take offense to the scoundrel thing, because I used the Ringo line "peace and Love" Its like when someone says "no offense" right before they say something, really offensive

Tony,
that sucks with your bad luck...I am right there with you. I have been waiting for 19 months for some bits that I paid +$500 for, from bonesteel arms llc.

(not rover related, but waiting with my fingers crossed related)

x2. I didn't delete my Rock Auto threads after they finally coughed up a refund. I felt people should be aware of things and decide for themselves.

This is why when I used to make parts I never presold them, seen to many guys with good intentions screw their rep by unintentionaly screwing others (not saying that is or isn't the case here )

Nailed it. Take "Marty" out and insert just about any Rover parts guy or vendor(except Paul Grant, he's ALWAYS been great). They're all just small time guys trying to make a buck and help out the Rover community. Everybody messes up and a few are bound to fall between the cracks.
I just had to do battle with ASR(winchline) and it took me talking **** on Pirate, threatening to dispute the charge, and file a complaint with the BBB for them to finally get off their *** and do something.

The problem is too many guys that turn their passion into a business just don't have the business sense to run it properly. You wouldn't think it 'd be that hard, but for some reason it is. When someone pays for a part, ship it. If it won't ship right away, tell them. That reminds me, I need to call AB and cacel the damn drive flange I've had on order for 2 months.
