I just shipped a differential (3rd member) to SC and it was only 38 dollars and that was 68lbs.

 

wow! how did you ship it that it was so cheap? thats good info right there. I bought a side mirror and shipping was $10 and those are light as a feather and not as nearly as big as an entire 3rd.

 

Ups ground. Sry they charged me an extra 5 or 7 dollars cause it wasn't in a cardboard box it was a small wood box I made.

 

Ship those differentials in a five gallon bucket. Out the door a diff will weigh 62 pounds and have a nice handle for carrying. I've probably shipped 50 or 60 that way.

 

Except if they decide to bounce it around on its side, then the front shaft of my front output assembly broke the top in a few pieces that I received a few weeks ago, but no damage to the shaft, so the plastic and internal wrapping did the job. Thanks Paul! I was trying to figure out what an orange bucket was doing on my front porch, never thought it would be my rover parts.
