FS: 89 with some problems
Up for sale is my 1989 SWB Range Rover. White, sand leather, ~179,500 miles on the clock, and is a good news/ bad news truck.
Bad news first:
As discussed on the Range Rover forum (the HELP topic), there is a horrible buzzing/ grinding noise from the transmission/ t-case area. The truck will not move and will need to be towed away. It has rust in the usual places (front footwells, under the rear tailgate, under the doors, spare tire well). Central locks do not work, but the doors will lock individually and the rear outer door handle on the left side is broken. The transfer case has a small leak that needs to be topped off about once a month and the EFI light is on. Lastly, the passenger's side rearview mirror is broken (the mirror glass is complete and working but the casing is cracked).
Good news time:
Truck has current VA inspection and plates. Also has less than a week's use on brand new brake pads and freshly turned rotors. It has a brand new alternator and belt (less than a month old) and it starts on the first turn of the key every time. The engine runs exactly as it should: no coughs or sputters and has a new K&N filter. Underneath it's equipped with Old Man Emu shocks and steering stabilizer, a 2" lift and new bushings all around. Both the suspension and steering are tight and quiet; even with the extra height it doesn't feel at all top-heavy. The body is in excellent cosmetic shape without any major dings, save one on the roof. Other goodies include a CD player & Polk speakers, a tow hitch, a Yakima roof rack, owner's manual, and some funky hood badges and Camel Trophy stickers.
The Rest:
If I had the money to fix this problem I wouldn't sell it for any price and though I hate the thought of tearing it apart, it would be an excellent donor truck. I'm asking 1000 but am very open to offers. Located in Fredericksburg, VA. My email is mszyd6hw@umw.edu. Thanks for looking!
