last call for parts, d2 is gonna be a small cube of metal on monday
Hi everyone, I just wanted to say thank you to all that have bought parts or at least taken an interest in parts from 2002 discovery sd, and this monday will be a sad day for me...not for the home owners association who is going to fine us for having it in our drive way. However, monday december 10th she will be forced on a tow truck and sent to her demise. So these last several days I will be pulling parts trying to save as much as I can. If there are any parts you are looking for or are in need of, I will sell them cheap!!!!!

re: gonna be a small cube of metal
Near me the boneyards buy them for price per pound, keep them about two months for scavengers, then flatten them. The squashed vehicles are carted to a metal processor, the one near us uses a special shredder. They have two cranes feeding it cars constantly, it pulls them in and spits out a mountainous stream of metal chunks the size of your fist. Takes about 15 seconds to shred a car. Those chunks go on freight cars, or are processed again to reduce them to golf ball size. Then off to a plant where they will be melted down and turned into something useful. Just think, that cold one you are enjoying could be in a can from Disco 1.
I must say that the memory of the James Bond Goldfinger Lincoln being smashed, then placed in the bed of a Falcon pickup raised some basic physics questions...
