As a note, this vehicle was legally imported, and comes with clear Louisiana title & registration. In addition, it carries extremely low insurance rates. This Defender also provides the efficiency/reliability of one of the simplest diesel motors Land Rover ever created. This example isn't a project LR with unknown issues; it is completely rebuilt, with great bodywork and frame, and is ready to be your daily driver, fun weekend car, or work horse on a ranch or hunting/fishing camp. I’ve decided to leave the Defender in original condition, but the composite top can be unbolted, so you can easily convert it to an open top cruiser, or add a convertible canvas top if desired.
If you’re interested in additional information about this particular defender model and the restoration program it went through, check out this video from an owner of one of these Tithonus Defenders in England, explaining the background of this unique Land Rover:
Maintenance wise, I haven't had to do anything to the Defender since I've owned it in the States. It's been an extremely reliable and fun car to own. I recently replaced the battery with a heavy duty cold crank battery, so it starts right up.
Viewings are definitely recommended, as seeing the condition in person will truly show the meticulous nature of the restoration program this Defender was a part of.The Defender is advertised locally as well, so the auction may be suspended if sold locally. Please contact me with any questions via my mobile (#504-722-8139).
In addition, the Defender is currently on eBay as well:
