For what its worth.. I paid 15K for an '06 HSE with 73K miles 2 years ago.

Had a new compressor and a few smaller things replaced by the used dealer I bought it from. I am located in the northeast (PA).

I have an 06 Tonga Green HSE LR3. It just passed the 100K mark. I bought it a year and a half ago for 10.9K. Did a full brake job, replaced the brake switch, deleted the delicate T coolant fitting, and we've enjoyed it ever since.

You should be able to find a clean 06-09 LR3 in that price range. I know I've seen several listed in Houston. Mine was 5k less than all the rest for some reason (guessing the brake switch issue I had two weeks later that caused all sorts of can bus issues). However 22.00 on a new brake switch & she's been good to go ever since.

Thanks for your input. I look forward to seeing what's out there. I'm leaning more towards the LR3 so I have more $$ to build it out. Would you buy an LR3 again? My 04' disco2 was fun but gave me a little more trouble than I wanted.

thanks for the input. I'm thinking I should be able to find something solid around the 15k range.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy an 05-09 LR3 or RRS. I personally love the original RRS headlights, tail lights, and interior/exterior, but I needed a 3rd row and the dual HVAC, and HD Package on my LR3 sold me vs going for a RRS. I love all my older D1/D2's but the LR3/RRS is a very well built and reliable vehicle. Just check the lower control arms for popping, transmission leaks, and EAS working properly.

If my wife had seen the place I bought my LR3 from she would have run away with her hair on fire, but I went to look at the LR3 and I didn't care about the lot it was sitting on. I did a very good inspection, then since it had NAV I looked up the home address and it was for a very $$$$$$$$$ part of Houston, TX so I figured it was just a dealer trade in then it went to auction where this lot bought it and I was right. When I got home I found a genuine LR oil filter on it which meant it was dealer serviced. I considered it a steal at 10.9K with 91K on it (now has 106K) and after the brake switch, and brake job it's been awesome. I also have the G4 Roof Rack for it.
