Default GEORGIA Discovery Series II

An appropriate first post.
Fell in love with the Disco back in Iraq, funny little SAS dudes put'em through hell.

Looking for something within 2 hours or 150 miles of Atlanta metro area (TN/SC/AL/FL.

Research done, this is what I want:
1999.5 - 2002 or 2004
Less than 150k miles, less the better.
I know the maintenance regulars & don't mind so long it is priced accordingly. Good gaskets, seals & serviceable front drive shaft a bonus. I am planning on self maintenance, but the above repairs are just beyond my skill/tools at this time.
Please no frame rust/damage, my kids are the most precious cargo.
Color preference: white, black, silver
(but still open to others except that Yellow)
$3k - $4k budgeted
Please let me know what you have to offer or what you might see posted for sale!

Good luck on your search. Budget some $ for a pro mechanic inspection. Complete shop and owner manuals are free download below. Called the RAVE.

2003 is OK, the oil pump issue applied only to some "within" the VIN range, which died by 50,000 miles and had engine replaced. D1 does not have all the bells and whistles of the D2. See our tech area for comparisons.

You can't get to Florida in 2 hours from Atlanta by pavement.... and not attract police attention....

Lots on craigslist in Atlanta. Look at several. Red Top auto auction up near Cartersville moves about 1500 vehicles a week, all the take-backs from the big finance companies, lease turn ins, etc.

I saw so many good vehicles on the Savannah CL, even a nice eBay Discovery in Savannah. I'd even consider flying down there if I knew I was buying a vehicle I could drive home to North GA. The good ones move really quick on Atlanta CL but many sellers have this weird idea that an 02 with 180k for $7.5k+ is market value while they're leaking at the rear main or needing gaskets.
If you see/know of anything down in Savannah & can recommend someone down there to check it out then I would consider it. You and Mike have helped me so much already, I'd trust any recommendations you might have.
I'll check into the 03 a little more & that auction too, thank you.

They will have high prices now as winter approaches and the possibility of 1/4 inch of snow dooms north Georgia to school's closed, etc. Really need to have that inspection, it can save you from buying much bigger problems, usually by a factor of 10 or more.

Bought a 2001 Discovery SE7 for $3000.
Had it checked out at The Shop in Norcross, GA as they were a referral from an Atlanta dealer who stocks newer Land Rovers.
