i just went to look around at www.get-rhino.com, only to find a pop-up with the following message:

Recently, Land Rover North America ceased selling classic Rover parts to its dealers in North America. So unless you know someone with a key to the Land Rover factory, you will eventually have a very difficult time acquiring replacement parts for Rovers older than 1995. This sucks. Officially.

We at Red Rhino Products have mourned the passing of a great era, we have dried our tears, and we have resolved to find ways to continue supplying the parts our customers need. So when existing dealers eventually deplete their replacement part inventories, only the hardest working suppliers will be able to provide you with parts.

We promise to reinforce our relationships with our key genuine parts suppliers and guarantee your access to the parts you will always need to keep your Rover running correctly. Corporate bastards, eat scum!
i should be ok right? my 94 is pretty much exactly the same as a 95, correct me if i'm wrong, but its almost mechanicly identicle to any other Disco I, other than the fuel injection system.

Not bad at all, Land Rover have technically stopped suppling parts to dealers, but that is because Land Rover have set up a new business, which specialises in selling the parts for classic Land Rovers, and this company can and will still supply parts to the dealers.

The difference will be that the dealers will not be able to make as much mark up on the parts as they have been doing, and also they are not required to stock the parts anymore. If you have any problems getting parts, then shout as www.paddockspares.com and www.johncraddockltd.co.uk would both supply for instance to the USA, and I am sure we could sort out a few more if needed...

I think you will be alright for the most part. I think the real issue is those out there with Series vehicles. But, as Lighting 90 pointed out, there should be replacement parts available by other means for these folks. I went mail order some time ago, as none of the local dealers were stocking anything for Disco I's. Unless the part was carried over to the DII, they didn't have it in stock. I would have to wait 3-5 days for parts, same as a mail order company. And at a 30-80% markup. [sm=bling.gif]

the main thing i was worried about is that i didnt want to sell my Rover.

Your worring about parts drying up for your Disco, and here I have parked on my drive a 1952 Land Rover, which I generally have no problem finding parts for. The thing to remember, Land Rover, Ford, etc do not make the individual parts for any vehicle, they just assemble them, so a lot of parts manufacturers will still make batches of parts for the after sales market.

This was highlighted recently with the demise of the Rover car company, people started worring about parts been available for their cars, when Catapillar sent out a statement to say, "don't worry, Rover are not the parts supplier to the garages etc, we are, and we will still be suppling all parts for a lot of years to come"

I find the same with my series one, I can get some original parts, that were made back in 1952, while others are band new, only made yesterday, by the original manufacturer, using the original tooling.
