Getting stuck
We went off roading this weekend, I buried the truck in deep sand while climbing a hill.
We were less than a truck length from the top when we got stuck.
The hill is steep and the sand was deep, I was rocking the steering wheel back and forth and keeping steady throttle and we kept going slower and slower until..., tried to back up, no go, got out and this is what I found.

Turns out there was a log under the sand and we wedged the rear diff onto the log.
Jacked up the back of the truck, removed the log and stuck others under the wheels, let the truck down and drove out.

Took about 10 min to get out, thanks to Hi-Lift.
Once stuck I tried to back out and make another run at the hill but that just dug me in deeper.
Northern Michigan is mostly sand, not much top soil.
I will have some youtube videos up later, I need to convert them first.
This is in *******, 180 miles from where I live and one of my favorite wheeling spots.
100's of miles of trails.
I made a rookie mistake on this hill though, I has in hi-lock and not lo-lock, once I stopped I put it in lo, moved about another foot then she dug right in and we were done.
The kids loved it though.
And I left this behind...

I used the jack in the receiver (trailer hitch without the draw bar in it, so the empty square hole) and jacked up the back of the truck.
It's 3 hours away Mike.
We went to the Buckley Old Engine Show on Sat. (I took the day off work) then we went over to Waters (10 miles south of *******) and settled into the cottage.
I can take you and the Mrs. up there next year if you are interested.
Its lots of fun.
20 miles takes 2-3 hours.
