how is an imported 99 diesel for sale?
You can import any car you want, you just cannot register it unless it has been modified to meet US standards.
So if you cant drive it why bother?
It is very common for US Military Personal who were stationed in Germany, Japan, etc. to ship their cars to the US.
They pay to have the vehicle modified and then the Army (or whatever branch they were in) will ship it for free.
Then it goes through customs and they pick it up from either the East Coast or the West Coast, depending on where it came from.
I had a friend with a Ford Mustang 5.0 German spec imported, it had more horse power and torque then the US spec.
I would buy that Freelander in a heartbeat if I had the money.
That would be a GREAT commuter car.
