At least my wife got a laugh watching the person's sobriety test.

Man, these things are built like tanks.
Why in the hell would anyone drive anything else?

He wont be driving again for a while will he?
I assume your wife is ok Tom?

We both have sore necks. I'm not going to go in to much detail right now since we haven't contacted the other person's insurance company yet. Apparently in Alabama you get the other person's information in the police report.

I took this a bit ago.

At the hitch you can see the bumper is bent in, about 3/4-1" at the hitch support.
The bumper also got bent down so the exhaust outlet was jammed behind it and melted the light out on the drive home.
The tail light on rear quarter got broken, but the bulbs all worked so I stopped at the auto parts store and got some colored translucent tape to cover them in red and amber. If we got stopped for a broken light on the way back home (another 3 hours) I wanted to show at least a good faith effort.

All in all the Discovery fared surprisingly well (so far; I haven't done a close inspection) all things considered. I was amazed to see that the person hit hard enough to actually shear the bolt holding on the left rear lashing eye. It wasn't impacted by anything, it was just the inertia of the impact. I found the lashing eye on the pavement under the front axle.

It opened once I cut off the peeled up part plastic spacer.
It does need some body work on the rear quarter panel and the door is dented at the license plate. The interior panel is bits are broken as I had some stuff in the boot that hit the tray and speaker housing. That's what I've found so far.
I'm taking it to a couple of collision places Monday or Tuesday to get estimates and to make sure the chassis isn't tweaked.

Glad you both are ok... but WOW. Comparison wise, there IS NO comparison. Your rover owned that Dodge.

Yeah, it is, my wife's '97, but it's out of a Defender. I was actually coming back from picking up a '97 Discovery TC to put in.
