i have 25 ft of 1 and a half inch marine rope , got the guys to weave the ends into eye holes , carry around 2 shackles , and i always leave it there on the rack , rain or shine ..

 

Used my recovery strap today for the first time.. to unload a trailer full of brush...I snaked a nylon strap under the front end of the pile of brush, (8ft wide by 10ft long trailer piled over 8 ft high with brush and branches) and secured that to my strap tied to the back side of the brush pile at the composting site. I then drove forward about 15 ft and it slid everything off the trailer. Easiest job I ever had of unloading all that brush. The guys at the compost site gave me a standing ovation.

Worked on my second trailer too but I laid a rope down before we piled in the brush. That trailer has 3 ft sides on it and it stood the load up onto the tailgate before it flipped off. another easy job! Of course I did have to climb through the pile to get my straps back... The shackles sure made it easier to attach the recovery strap. Glad I got the 30 ft strap too!

 

thought you wanted a recovery strap ???? like for offroading , or getting stuck in the mud ??? ohh ...you wanted an unloading pile of brush strap...

 

Straps don't like friction. I tend to stray away from using my recovery strap for anything that involves it rubbing on stuff

 

Wasn't enough weight to cause any friction, just a lot of leaves and branches. The part that wrapped around the brush on the trailer was a chunk of crappy nylon rope and the strap was a straight pull from there. probably not even 200 lbs of force on the strap since the rope didn't break on either load. the sliding or binding action was on the crappy rope.
