Default 3-core radiator vs 4-core radiator ID?

Hello. Does anyone have a definitive method to tell a 3-core Series radiator from a 4-core radiator? I know the 4-core has larger, thicker tanks but... unless I can compare side by side that won't work. I also cannot see through the radiator due to an oil cooler in the way (without taking it off). Appreciate any help.

Default Radiator?

I bit the bullet and moved some stuff to see into the opening and allowed the antifreeze to drain some. Counting the cores there are 2 cores. There's a lot of real estate on either side of the 2 cores but... it's solid with no openings.

Now I'm concerned that a 4 core will be too thick for my fan clearance. I'm running a 2.5TD with the turbo removed due to clearance issues and a Series III radiator. It originally came with a 2.25D (Santana). A Defender radiator won't clear the lower steering arm.

Have you checked with the vendor of the 4 core to get measurements on the tanks etc to see how it compares. Modern rads are a bit thinner than old rads.

I asked one vendor but they weren't sure if their's was a 3-core or 4-core. I asked Rovers North via email and haven't received a rely yet. I may call Atlantic British tomorrow.
