Hi all,

I have just pulled my S3 1976 Lightweight out of storage. She has a loud engine noise that I am hoping someone can advise me on.

She was serviced just before she went into storage 12 months ago, and all fluids and belts were new. She was running sweetly before then, did few miles, and true to form after pulling her out, she started on the first turn.

The noise can be best described as clattering, from sump area, behind manifold. Video link below.

Any advice on what this could be please?

Water pump ? Grab the fan blades and see if there is any play on it.

 

Assuming all was well when you last serviced it, I would remove the valve cover and check for a stuck valve.
