Default Serie 3 steady posts

Good morning,

I’am rebuilding my serie 3 front brake assembly, and I can’t put my hands on the steady posts (previous ones are scrap).
SN is 607808. They seem not to be produced anymore, is there a replacement part or should I be searching eBay to find some?

Thank you in advance,

Tim

Default First post by me so be warned!

I have encountered the same problem. You can still get the parts but the prices are crazy. Given the function of the steady post (it's just a threaded bolt with a locknut to stop it moving once it is set to the correct height to keep the brake shoe from rubbing on the backplate) I am pretty sure you could achieve the same result with a simple 5/16" UNF hex head bolt with matching locknut. Anything wrong with this apart from being not perfectly authentically original? The hole in the backplate is UNF threaded, hence the locknut, but if you wanted to go metric I see nothing wrong with drilling out the threaded hole and using a stainless M6 set screw with two locknuts, one each side of the backplate to secure it. Anyone disagree?
