Brake backing plates # 515405 & 515406, are they for left and right side or front and rear of car? It looks like someone has wrong backing plates on both of the rear. The adjusters are on the trailing shoes. Can those be installed on the wrong side? I have poor braking and can not adjust correctly, the drums do not fit flush with the hubs either. Thanks, and which numbers are for what position, if I have to replace them?

 

I’m not sure about the part numbers but the wrong backing plate will cause poor braking. My Series 2 has quite good brakes actually (except after driving through water holes).
