I did not know autozone has a DII pump, I would try that it can't be any worse than the LR pump.

I would buy a used pump, and then maybe try and rebuild my old one and have it as a spare.

So obviously I have a serious case of air getting into the lines. Do you think it would be worth it to repair the leak and see if that helps? I believe its leaking from the return hose where it connect to the pump.

ooh, and any one else looking for a pump, I called autozone and they want 211.00$ for a rebuild. But they do charge 35 for a "core" charge, so you won't be able to keep and rebuild your own if you don't pay the charge. Sounds like a good deal, but i'd like to know who rebuilds them!!

If it is a leaking hose, which is common, then just replace the hose.

On my 99 D2 the pump leaked very bad after engine shutdown, like half a quart!!! Drove it this way from Virginia to Indiana, most of the time the pump had very little oil in it,growling like crazy, oil tank full of foam..Removed the pump to find the print-o-seal gasket had failed. Its between the front and back of the pump. With nothing to lose,I split the pump apart, cleaned it completely inside and out with brake clean,(after sanding the gasket surfaces) applied a thin layer of gray stiff silicone RTV, assembled the pump using lock tight on the bolts. Let the pump set overnight then installed...Works Great! I have 8,000 miles on it its quiet and no leaks at all ! Look at most auto parts stores for gray "stiff" silicone might be 3m. The gasket I replaced with the silicone RTV is under no pressure, a little vacume if anything.
