Tire questions (265's) 03 D2 SE
Hello,
I know this has been discussed here on the forum before but I would like to get some opinions for my specific use.
I have an 03 Disco 2 SE with the 18" wheels. I like the 265 tire look.
The main purpose for my truck will be daily driving for work in MN climate (6 months of cold/winter) and to tow one of my other cars to the track in the summer along with some light off road driving. What tire size and brand do you recommend? I would prefer to purchase Michelins but don't know what they make in 265. Also, 265/60 or 265/65? I've read both work but would like to hear from the peanut gallery.
Thanks in advance.
Luis

Pretty much every company will make the 265/65r18 because that's stock Silverado size. I ran 256/65r18 Cooper Discoverer AT3s on my Disco at stock height for a while before I lifted. I thought they were a perfect fit, no rubbing at all, and great tires. A few people have reported rubbing with the 265/65, but only minimal. I believe that most people who get rubbing have saggy springs. Mine were still within stock spec.
Make sure you look for the E load rating 10 ply as specified by LR. There are plenty of LT tires out there that do not meet the load requirements, especially if you plan to tow.
That should narrow your search significantly.
I am a happy Michelin customer with 16's.

I installed 265/60/18 Goodyear Duratrac's on my '03 in July. Ride became a little more "coarse" and performance suffered a bit due to slightly larger diameter. Looks are great and a 50k warranty doesn't hurt either. I'd do it again, if the truck can last that much longer.
Sorry I don't have any photos, the truck is sitting in my garage in Montana and I'm in Colorado.

Thanks! They are Nitto Crossteks. I went in for duratracs but ended up getting these for a few hundred less and they've been great. Got them last january.
