Don't forget to check lifter preload when bolting on the rocker shafts. If the heads or block were skimmed, then shims may be needed under the rocker pedestals.
Lesson learned. Thank you so much. Its getting cold here now. Lol

Default Extra parts in package

Sorry for asking but I have some parts in the package that came with the gasket which I think I have not seen them during the process of disassembling the engine. Will you be able to tell me these parts?

Assorted O-Rings

More gaskets

Not for your motor, it's a multi year/model kit.

NIce work.

I'm getting ready to do the head gaskets myself. Unfortunately one of my elring gaskets is damaged:

I have another pair of gaskets that came with my head gasket kit from Lucky8, but the brand is unknown... it came in plain plastic wrapping. They're tacky/shiny. Other than that, they looks the same as the elrings... so I was thinking to use one of each, but not entirely comfortable using no-name parts. Anyone used either and can comment?

I was about to order a set of Fel-Pro gaskets off of RockAuto for cheap, but judging by the picture they don't have the metal webbing that connect the cylinder rings... and I feel like thats a miss.

I believe that the hole on the elring gasket is a bolt hole, not a waterway, so I don't think the damage is going to have any effect. The waterway is the more rectangular hole next to the damaged one.
In addition, if you use copper gasket spray then it should take care of any sealing issues.

It is indeed a bolt hole. Using the gasket is very appealing vs $35 + waiting one week. But then again, re-doing the gasket later is far less appealing...

Wazzup Jeff! I'm a day close to the moment of truth but tomorrow and the following day will rain. Oh well Its taking forever. My son lost 3 bolts that goes to the coolant tube that goes to the manifold, just got it this afternoon. Now, I got the a/c compressor and the alternator installed. If weather permits, tomorrow, I'll just hook up the wires and tubes.

Its a good practice run for my other disco. theres so many I learned what to do and what not to do during the entire process. Cheers and good luck to all doing their head gasket for the first time. LOL!
