need a pic please
Hello all, Would someone please send me a pic of how the cooler in front of the radiator on a 2004 D2 attaches. I didn't take a pic myself and cant seem to get the thing on there correctly. I changed out my water pump, t-stat and radiator(without disconnecting oil lines) I need a pic or two of the cooler's attachment points for re fitment. what a pain in the butt!

I had just done mine about two weeks ago. There were two coolers. The upper and lower one attached in opposite ways. You have to slide the mounting tabs at one end of the cooler into the radiator at about a 45 degree angle which locks it into place. I don't have a picture to share though.

Kinda hard to see from my pics there, but there is the cooler and I see a slot, I was trying to get er' into the slot earlier, but I did not try at an angle, damn next time i am going to just disconnect the dang lines. Arghh So am I assuming that the 2004 only has 1 cooler? What ever happened to simplicity?

I'd have to disagree with the deletion of the oil coolers in the 03-04 D2's.
The 4.6L needed it the most!!!! With higher compression, and more stress on the already delicate Buick 215 based V8 from the 60's. All 03-04 D2's should have come off the factory floor with one, but the D2 was already on it's way out, and LR didn't need to try to improve a dead horse when the LR3 was about to be released. LR cut corners with the 03-04 D2's (03 oil pump failures) just to name an issue.
The 3.9/4.0/4.2 V8's all had factory oil coolers.
I've owned a lot of LR's and out of all my Bosch 4.0/4.6's the 4.0's are the best running, quietest running, and most reliable vs the 03-04 4.6L V8's I've owned.
Don't get me wrong the facelift on the 03-04's was beautiful, the extra HP the 4.6L made was nice, and the return of CDL in 04 was fantastic.
However with that being said I'll take a 99 to early 02 D2 with a 4.0L and a CDL nipple anyday. I like the none SAI 4.0L V8 better, I like the 94-02 glass head lights for not fogging up full of water or getting ugly by UV Light Exposure, and I certainly do like the oil cooler being standard.
