I didn't mean to get off topic with the cams either.
From what you're doing, you might as well add rocker shafts. Apperently they can tick too.
Only $28(or less) at Lucky8.
Cheap and easy, worth doing.
4 bolts hold each shaft to the head, you're removing them anyway, and 2 cotter keys each is all that holds the rockers and springs on.
They slide off, or tap with a dead blow hammer.

Well I've got the cam/lifters out. I've got the new Crower cam and Comp lifters and new timing chain in hand as of last night.
One thing I don't have is new pushrods. I can't believe how much the main sites charge for these. 4 bucks each for Allmakes crap. That's almost as much as set of Comp or Trick Flow or other big name precision made pieces. Wtf. So far I haven't found the exact replacment for the Rover V8 and I'm scared to buy the wrong length. Any suggestions?
Timing cover is off and being cleaned/degreased. Very close to being able to go back together.

Not saying they are. But the price should reflect what they are.
Comp Cams for example. A company that manufactures (for the most part) exclusively Valvetrain components. They use high quality materials and even higher quality tooling. They are an established name in the world of automotive enthusiasts. From dragsters to a Chevy farm truck. They with out a doubt incorporate a ton of R&D into thier products. They would have to or they would have died out long ago.
They sell a set of 16 chromemoly 1 peice pushrods. Precision made. And even give a variety of tips available. 89 bucks. Free shipping.
Allmakes on the other hand ...is a copy cat reproduction company of questionable quality. One only has to Google it to find a score of horror stories about quality. I myself have had a boatload of crappy parts by them.
Thier set of pushrods are priced at 75 bucks. Plus shipping. They also offer a cam who knows who actually makes it. Priced at around 150 plus shipping. The comp cams version is 144 free shipping.
Now that makes question who is gouging the customer here. No way in hell has AM invested the R&D or the tooling that into that product. Yet thier BS version of the same product is similarly priced.
My truck isn't a race car or a precision machine in anyway. It would be totally fine w the AM parts. I know. But it bothers me. The price should reflect the part. I'm sure the profit for a part like that is astronomical. I've bought scores of sets of generic Auto zone pushrods for other V8s and paid like a Dollar or two each. That price is fair. I know what I'm getting.

The comp cam is $249 at Summit.
Mine came today.
$144 is the Buick cam, and it won't work on a LR.
I think Lucky8's prices are great, and their parts are quality.
Their prices reflect a company that sells parts to make a fair profit, without ripping off their customers.
Comp cams makes high end race parts.
There aren't alot of options for performance parts for Land Rovers either.
Apple to oranges comparison.
You can pay alot more somewhere else for the same parts Lucky8 sells.
The 4.0/4.6 isn't a race engine revving 10 grand either.
