Default P0442 advice needed!

02 D2 se7 with 163,665 miles

I have had this p0442 code for a while now. I just built a homemade evap smoke tester and used it today. I found smoke coming out from this square shaped canister that is behind the coolant overflow and it has a 2 wire plug and a fairly large hard plastic hose on one side. My question(s) is what is it called and is it supposed to be leaking smoke/vapor?

I would like to think that the British would'nt have designed something that is meant to leak but.. Land Rover.

You can get the same part off of a Chevy Express Van for 15-20.00. It’s a purge vent. Haven’t smoke tested one before, I have had one fail. I got my replacement from Advance Auto.

Do you know if this is the right one? A Dorman 911-074?

Looks like it to me, it’s on a lot of different vehicles.

is there a cross reference sticky?

it would be really nice to have that.

as long as someone else does all the work to find the parts and i get profit from their research.

I posted the info in a few other threads, but it’s the same on 99-04 D2’s without SAI as a 2000 Chevy 3500 Express van with a 5.7L V8.
