Default Hanging out in earth's cleavage..

So I went wheeling on a new trail yesterday, and well, kinda got stuck. Don't know how I got out but managed to break my right-rear bumper and gas gauge quit working again...

Ahh yes. The joys.

I'm hoping to get mods done sooner than later. I'm too addicted to quit this!

Default so just to be clear..

I did not know that there were 4 positions on this CDL. I had tried a couple times before to move the lever to the left to "lock" the diffs, but it never would budge. No wonder I got stuck in a rut. I was scratching my head trying to figure out why the 2 wheels that were on the ground weren't moving.

So, yesterday morning I broke it all down and pulled shifter assembly out. Yep, stuck like a butt plug.

Took it to work last night, disassembled it further, soaked it in UltraSonic bath and eventually discovered the reason it was stuck. The lever shaft that moves left and right, the end was boogered hence not allowing it to slide through the aluminum collar. I removed that collar and lapped it and the shaft rod down. Put it all back together, now is free as a bird! Nice and shiny, too...

Yep, one of those things that if not used frequently gets stuck and won't work when you really need it. Good repairs on your part. Any more pix of the innards?

Tooltech,

You need to make it out to the Uwharrie Safari in mid-April and ride some trails with us.

You didn't BREAK OFF the rear bumper,

you REMOVED THE EXTRANEOUS plastic that didn't need to be there!

Have fun!!!!

Default hahaha

JC Speiser, I think you're right!

Going to remove the trash, including the front plastic bumper parts, and the running boards (LRchick has first dibs on those). They're all in the way anyhow... the running boards are a gift to Amy's mom.

I will put the brush bar back on but only after I do some weld repairs. Center bracket where a winch would normally bolt down, is rusted out. So I want to cut that out to replace with roll bar. I'm setting myself up for an eventual hidden winch.
