Talk a little more about what type of driving you will be doing and where. Brand wise Michelin and Yokohama are always a good bet, stay away from Goodyear.

Price Discount Tire online and then go to the local store and have them pricematch, they hate to do it but they always will. (Great customer service business)
Costco has some good prices but limited choice.

Goodluck with your Disco. Jeff

IF it were mine, I'd put on BFGoodrich All Terrains

If you only ever use it for street you won't get quieter or safer than a good, name brand, street tyre - but... and in my opinion it's a big but... they will be attrocious off the highway and as that's what a D1 does best you'd be wasting at least 50% of what your vehicle is all about. No-one ever has anything bad to say about BFG All Terrains - so they must be a good bet. They're reasonably quiet compared with other all terrain tyres and some brands of street tyre even and they'll be a LOT better off the highway than street tyres. About the only thing they don't cope with well is clay type mud... which is why there's also a BFG Mud Terrain

Cheers,

Wouldn't say the M/T do mud well either, for that you need something like an Interco TSL/SS but that's another story.

If you're staying on the road don't bother with an A/T it will be louder. Go with a lower profile, you didn't say if you had 16" or 18" rims. If I was staying on-road all the time I'd go 18" for sure it makes a noticable different in how things handle. (but then I'd also do a non-lift heavier spring and shock upgrade too) and in a smoother highway friendly tire. Just stick to a major brand in the right load range and you should be good. Things to consider are, will it see mud? if yes go A/T, will it see snow? if yet go A/T, will it be on highway all the time and in a warm climate? if yes look for something smoother and lower.

Based on the fact that you're also looking for a chrome bumper with the valence, I'd say stay with your stock tire size and get a highway tread. Just make sure it's an LT tire.
