Would still work for newer models with transponder, though

 

 

It would, simply remove transponder from fob, place hidden on the inside of steering column close to transponder read coil, and simply use any cut key to start the car. Makes me realize I've been going on two years without backup key thinking I'd have to get it programmed, though.
