I have a 2002 Disco II SE7 with 195,000+ miles. I recently broke spare key off in the ignition. I have been able to still drive it though I insert only a 1/2 key. Before this happened, I was having some issues with misfires, blinking 'service engine soon' light (though it would stop blinking and start driving fine-while blinking, it drags, but picks up, typically when low on gas). Trouble codes show a couple of cylinder misfires and I have another ignition coil pack ready for install. Question is, would a faulty/bad coil pack cause the ignition lock issue I am having? Im in the process now of having key removed to make a copy and see if that solves the issue....but just curious because when I went to LandRover, the service guy told me he wouldnt worry too much about paying so much for another key nd that if its working just let it be because he has had several others with the same 'key broken' issue and they just drove theirs like that.....
