Default Diagnostic codes 1171 and 1174

Hello all - I have a 2000 Discovery with 128k miles. Service Engine Soon light came on and I took it to Autozone to read the codes. They said it shows codes 1171 and 1174 but they could not tell me what that meant for a Land Rover... You guys have helped me so much on other issues I hope someone can tell me what to do with this info. From a quick on-line seach it looks like something to do with oxygen sensors but someone else mentioned MAF? I appreciate the help!

It can be a number of issues, how mechanical are you?

For background, here are some pages from Bosch engine management booklet on how those codes are generated, the cheapest thing it can be is a vacuum leak. If you clear the codes, they will probably come back in two days of driving. Bank 1 and 2 are lean, and the adaptive value the ECU wants to use to correct this is out of range. So if you think you fixed it with "X" change, it may come back in two drive cycles.

Thanks guys. I'm not mechanical at all but my boyfriend has changed the spark plugs, plug cables and alternator in this Land Rover. The information from the Bosch booklet is truly Greek to me. This is a scary one for me. Any "baby steps" I can try? Could it be a need to change the oxygen sensors? Thanks again!
