Default Transmission fluid

I have a p38 RR and wondering if there is a preferred automatic transmission fluid? Thoughts?

You need dexron III ATF. I think my fluid is valvoline, conventional dexron III atf. I had a local rover shop do it. Sometimes the newer dexron IV atfs (that say you can use it for dexron III applications) will cause the transmission to make grinding/sucking noises. This happened to me after I just bought the rover and it scared me to death. You may also want to add some lucas transmission fix. Many of the guys on the disco forum including myself use the stuff and love it.

dex 3. just make sure you top it off after starting it up. depending on year some have a transmission filler tube and some don't.

Default Dex III - just a good name brand...

change it once with filter, drive it 10 miles. Drain and refill it. this will mix up the new fluid with the 9 quarts in the torque convertor. on the last refill you could put in synthetic and the tranny will love it. it made mine shift more crisply...

Default exhaust

spray some DEEP CREEP on the exhaust studs a few day and the a few hours before removing the exhaust manifold studs. On my 1993 I needed to drop the front Y pipe and remove the cross member -- a lot of pounding to get out that crossmember.

Get 2 new exhaust manifold gaskets and new exhaust nuts from a rover dealer to seal up the pipe.
