Default 1 Year Wait and 6 Months In

After a long wait, a model change and 10,000 km it is time to share my thoughts!

My first order was a 110 X-Dynamic S D300, to be delivered in March 2021, obviously that didn’t happen and while waiting, LR changed the models on me. Choices were either a lower spec SE, X-Dynamic HSE or X.

I decided on the 2022 SE and spec’d it up as the Dynamic (or X) seemed to have a lot I didn’t need that couldn’t be removed (e.g., sunroof).

I went with fuji white, black pack and a few other parts like ebony morzine headlining, off-road pack (wanted the rear diff), tow hitch receiver, load space rails and solar Attenuating windscreen. The Bull Bar got added by LR (its even got an LR part No.), but the roof rack (frontrunner), Redarc brake controller and Anderson plug to connect my camper all came after.

First, no serious issues... Sort off...

The lane keep assist continues to give me a few heart attacks…

Also, leave the two front windows up and drop the rear down fully, drive to 80km and prepare to have a drone buzzing around in your brain. No idea why, must be how the back was designed. But give it a shot. I have tried this in two other mate’s l663 and it Is a very weird feeling- like a bad case of a plane landing in turbulence.

Apart from some plasticky bits that don’t fit in a ‘go-any-where’ rugged car, it is the best 4WD I have ever had. Done a few off road trips, nothing serious and with a 2 tonne camper at the back it is an awesome vehicle to take through outback Pilbara. Many more trips and hopefully more positive posts.

Lucky to still get the 11" screen

Love seeing the bullbar on a white defender! Might add that to mine at some point.

I'm also coming around to the idea that the AU-spec bulbar (as a JLR designed and built product) is probably the way to go in the long term. I really haven't seen anything else that I would want

If only the cost wasn't so eye-waveringly high

Love the front grill guard. Haven’t seen many options for that here in the U.S.

It ended up being almost the same price as my Pajero bull bar. But I have to say fitting was almost at par with the cost! But yeah, add freight and its expensive.
I must add that it has paid for it self a little bit. Someone parked next to me and made a sharp exit and grazed it.

Brilliant build! Thanks for the write up. I started with an X-Dynamic HSE. If I had a "do over", I would have started at the SE. Great choice. I also did the OEM Explorer Rack and regret I didn't get the Front Runner. Much more functional.

I'd consider adding a bullbar with all the deer running around here in suburban Boston. One neighbor hit one with a brand new 2016 LR4 then another neighbor hit one last year with a new X7. I've had too many close calls as well.
